Do you really think Social Security is going to be around for long?

I like your ideas. I would add that we need to convert to gold. It seems to be the safest right now.

I would highly encourage all boomers age 50+ to talk with a financial planner regarding long term care insurance. If you are accumulating assets, have a home and savings you probably have hopes of passing those down to family. A private room in a nursing home is upwards of $70,000 per year. 50% of all American's are likely to spend time in a nursing home. Protect your assets with a LTC policy.

More advice for Boomers. Take a look at new career opportunities, especially those that are built around fulfilling work involving helping others. Take a look a the work of Civic Ventures and others that outline those special types of work.

Best to you all,

Hi Dan,
Your article had some great stuff in it. Just wanted to add a few more points not related to finances. Boomers need to take care of themselves, emotionally as well as physically, because this time of their lives can be very challenging. This means they need to exercise, eat well and maintain a positive view on life. Go to http://www.bummedoutboomer.com for more information of the emotional challenges people face.
Thanks,
Amy
