Baby Boomers are taking to internet dating with gusto. Estimates are that the 50+ set are embracing online dating with more enthusiasm than any other age group.

Otherwise a potential “meet” becomes a “delete”.
So your photo is your first impression and it needs to be a good one. This doesn’t mean you have to be gorgeous, but it does mean there are some things you can do to make yourself as attractive as possible. For women this doesn’t mean that you need to wear an evening gown or get glamour shots (or Botox shots for that matter) and men, you don’t need to hire [...]

Recently, I was enjoying the company of three delightful women. We were part of a bigger group – all single. I hadn’t experienced such generosity for quite a long time and it was delightful. Along, came a man who sat down beside me, a very pleasant man. And immediately, things were different. It was surprising to me to see these delightful women change to being unpleasant, rude and quite hostile – not to me; to him.
It started me thinking about being single in the Baby Boomer years and what I witness each time I go to events like this. I notice a number of things. I hear women sitting around and whinging about men, how horrible they are – what they have done and what they haven’t done. I also hear men whinging about women in the same vain.
These years can be the best of your life because most of us are free from children, we have adequate money to live on and we can do as we please. Without a partner, it can be lonely, it can be isolating and you can feel unwelcome at couple’s events.

Reality is that many baby boomers, for one reason or another become single as mature adults. Many have been in long term relationship, and they are entering the dating scene for the first time in decades.
It is not easy to establish new relationships, when you are out of practice in the fine art of dating for so long. At best you're a little shy and at worst you're terrified. However, that is not the only problem.
Even if you can deal with the fear and the apprehension there is still the question of how to get started.
When we were younger it seems that often we met our potential mates through university, sports, work, friends, etc.
Some boomers get lucky, but for the most part it does not work out for whatever reasons. However, hope springs eternal and the solution is right in front of most of us.
If you have not guessed it by now, I am talking about the computer and online dating.
OK! - I can hear you say "It's not for me!" Now listen, you read this far, so do yourself a favor and hear me out!
Although online dating should be approached with common sense and caution it has come [...]
