The wacky Spellman family is at it again. This is a funny, funny follow-up to Lutz’s first book, the Spellman Files. Isabel Spellman may be a couple of years older, but she has no apartment (lives “between” places), has her mail forwarded to her favourite bar, and this time she picks the wrong suspect to stalk and survey.
Rae, her younger sister, is now 16, finally obtains a driver’s license – I’m sure that will usher in a whole new era for the Spellmans. Rae has been in the family business, private investigation, since she was four, so I can only imagine the adventures Rae will have in a car with a GPS!
Perfect brother David, well not so perfect in this novel. He’s drinking, he spends hours in his pj’s, and doesn’t show up at his law firm. Why? Well, you just have to read this romp through the streets of San Francisco. It’s hysterical how this dysfunctional family keeps laying down rules and regulation which they all break!
Lisa Lutz has created a fabulous family you can’t wait to hear more about. You may not want to move in with them, but you’d want them as neighbours. Well, perhaps not, that’s a little too close for surveillance. Let’s just say you would want catch up with them once a year – Rae, Izzy, David, Olivia, and Albert Spellman. Let’s not forget the ever steady Henry Stone – possible boyfriend # 11 for Izzy?
